Singlish

Each week I will feature a word from the official Singlish dictionary (the Singaporean version of English, like Australian). I have always wanted to be multilingual and knowing a little Singlish is the extent of my progress towards this goal so far, despite owning "Teach Yourself" French, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, and Thai.

Word-of-the-week   Kia si lang
Meaning:   To be scared to death. Literally: giving the dead a fright.
Example:

"Next time drive slowly! Auntie so kia si lang, nearly got heart attack orready!"

"Eh you got white face. Kia si lang, see your creditcard statement is it?"
