Twitter Policy

There's a lot I like about Twitter, and in my opinion, those who see it simply as a source for selling their wares are overlooking the best it has to offer, which is a sense of community. There are a lot of interesting people out there, and funny, and strange as it might sound, I actually enjoy reading the daily, and sometimes mundane, activities of fellow Twitterers. Most of all, I get a good laugh every day.

Basically, my Twitter policy is that I will follow anyone who sends me an invite with just a few exceptions:

  • No photo or image—to me this says one is lazy, apathetic, lacking identity or so completely technically-illiterate it's a surprise they managed to even create a Twitter account;
  • Tweets or profiles which say, "Look at my naughty pictures/video";
  • Anyone with scam/spam tweets eg the one about teeth whitening or bandwidth;
  • Anyone with the, "Get 400 followers a day" tweet. To me, if you are desperate for thousands of robot followers just to look popular, then you're kinda missing the point of Twitter, in my opinion, and perhaps instead should be seeking therapy about what happened at school when you were a teen;
  • Anyone who only and repeatedly tweets on selling whatever;
  • Anyone with a profile, thousands of followers, yet not a single tweet.

That's about it. Previously I would not follow an invite that came in a foreign language, but then I thought that might be discriminatory so now I do. And I always follow dogs and cats on Twitter because I think it's pretty remarkable that they can type with paws—that would not be easy.

Regards
Leigh

Thanks for finding me on Twitter. I often wonder why I stay on Twitter but when I read your tweets (and your FAQs) I find another reason to continue :~)
